Week 1

Over the past week, I have been very excited about this new project and haven't had a hard time "making time" to keep it up to date. Yesterday I read about 35 pages in the car while my kids were napping (the car was parked, fyi). I have another 15 to go today to wrap up the 50 needed to stay on track. I was more focused than usual yesterday - most likely a symptom of getting "into the groove" with the book I am currently reading. I imagine that today's blog post on this book will be more streamlined than the prior two.

By the way, I am not "a reader" by any stretch of the imagination. The last book I almost read cover to cover was Marley and Me prior to having kids over three years ago. I say almost because when I was attempting to finish the book on a flight home, I had to stop reading it. I identified with the characters more than I thought possible and the loss of Marley towards the end of the book was not something I felt like voluntarily subjecting myself to. Also, the fear of becoming a sobbing fool amongst complete strangers on the aircraft played into my decision a fair amount.

Prior to that, I think the last book I might have read cover to cover was in college (which I graduated from in 2000)...and even that is questionable.

I am going to wrap it up here and will look forward to next weeks journal post.

If you have book recommendations, please post a comment and let me know. I am going to get through as many as I can in the 18,000+ pages I intend to read over the coming year.

Wow...November 1st already...how does time go so fast?
